Take a long-tail to Railay
No road, 15 minutes from Ao Nang. Hike the viewpoint if the heat allows. Swim at Phra Nang. Stay the night if you can — dusk on the cliffs without the day boats is the point.
Four Islands or Phi Phi
Four Islands is the local snorkel circuit. Phi Phi is the famous limestone. Both leave from Ao Nang. Pick one; the sea is tiring if you do both back to back.
Ao Nang at a human pace
The mainland beach is convenient, not wild. Walk the strip at sunset. Book boats here. Eat seafood without a Patong soundtrack.
Rock climbing (if that is your trip)
Railay is a world climbing destination. Beginners can take a half-day. Everyone else can watch the limestone and swim.
